The most "classical" of the Deutz cuvees is far from mundane. The three different champagne grapes are blended in equal and unchanging proportions, ensuring it shows perfect harmony. Its golden color scintillates in the glass, with a fine stream of bubbles rising gracefully to the surface. The first impressions on the nose are mellow and reminiscent of acacia flowers, confectionery, Reinette apples and brioche. The wine then gains in volume and its silky texture reveals a successful balance between the freshness of Chardonnay, the fruitiness and structure of Pinot Noir and a touch of vinosity from the Pinot Meunier.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"This is very dry with apple, praline and pie-crust character. It’s full, layered and gorgeous with a lovely, creamy texture. The base is from the 2017 vintage, one third each of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier. 41% of reserve from previous years, such as 2016 and 2015." (Apr 2021)
91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Apple blossom and graphite aromas lace flavors of Asian pear, blanched almond and lemon curd in this sleek Champagne. Fresh and linear, with a fine, creamy mousse. Drink now through 2023. 150,000 cases made, 184 cases imported." - AN (Dec 2020)
90 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Distinctively Deutz in style with vinosity and verve, this is fresh, elegant and round with a precocious ripeness and good depth. The base is largely the 2015 vintage (50%) with additions from 2013 and 2014 reserve wines. As always, it's an equal blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, sourced from premier cru and grand cru vineyards from the Marne area." (Mar 2019)
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"In the delicate, elegant style that is the Deutz house hallmark, this Champagne is beautifully understated, with its balance and touches of toast in harmony. This bottling is ready to drink." - Roger Voss (12/31/2021)
