About the Wine:

Tasting Notes:

Inky and powerful, the 2019 Dirt Worshipper boasts a nose filled with crushed blackberries, violets, smoked brisket and green pepper. On the mid-palate, intense flavors of olive tapenade, sassafras, blueberries, menthol and espresso intermingle. The finish starts dense but lightens up with elegant tannins that melt into a long driving vein of salinity.

Blend: 98% Syrah, 2% Roussanne

Ratings & Reviews:

92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
While the special cuvees here get all the attention, the straight estate releases always over-deliver, and the 2013 Syrah Estate looks to continue that trend. Exhibiting the classic Syrah dark berry fruit, violets, pepper and wild herb aromas and flavors, it’s full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a hard-to-resist personality. It should drink nicely on release and evolve through 2023.

As always, I had a great visit with winemaker Anthony Yount. The wines continue to go from strength to strength, and at this point, are a match for anything coming out of the west side of Paso Robles. These are high-quality wines that merit attention.

91 Points - Vinous:
Opaque ruby. An array of black and blue fruit scents on the nose, with complicating suggestions of cola, dark chocolate and licorice. Warm and spicy in the mouth, offering sappy blackcurrant and mulberry flavors that tighten up on the back half. Shows good energy on the finish, which features supple tannins and a hint of olive.
