About This Wine:

Produced from the celebrated Pinot Noir grapes from our best vines, the wines from Clos Vougeot Chateau de la Tour are classified among Burgundy's Grand Cru. Their elegant bouquet and flavours of "truffles, liquorice, violet and wild mint" develop harmoniously with age.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A dense nose features notes of very ripe plum, cassis, violet, spice, earth and tea nuances that are trimmed in moderate wood and menthol notes. There is excellent intensity and power to the concentrated middle weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of dry extract that pushes the very firm core of tannins to the background on the moderately austere, complex and wonderfully long finish. This is solidly well-balanced and while it's quite firm it's not hard or rustic." (Jan 2016)

92+ Points - Vinous Media:
"Bright, dark red-ruby. Black cherry and licorice on the ripe but cool nose. Concentrated and deep but light on its feet, showing strong minerality and inner-mouth tension. More energetic than the 2014 and very primary today. Finishes tactile, fresh and long." - Stephen Tanzer (Mar 2016)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Tasted blind at Fine & Rare Wines' Clos Vougeot tasting, the 2013 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from Chateau de la Tour has a "placid" bouquet that is minding its own business. It is nicely defined, but you get the feeling that it is holding something back. With a little aeration it reveals attractive blackcurrant pastille and Morello cherry scents, then later, a hint of dried orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is good density and weight here, appreciable mineralite although the finish is reticent for the time being. Give this a 3-4 years in bottle and you will have a very fine Clos Vougeot." - Neal Martin (Nov 2015)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A bright, cherry- and black currant-flavored red, accented by sweet spice, sandalwood and an underlying savoriness. The tannins are firm, yet the overall feel is one of elegance, with a long, detailed finish. Best from 2019 through 2030. 120 cases imported.." - BS (Web Only - 2016)
