About the Winery:
Delamotte, founded in 1760, is one of the oldest houses in Champagne. The two neighbors Salon and Delamotte became part of Bernard Hinault's Laurent-Perrier group in 1986 and were joined under the same winemaking team in 1988, thus making Delamotte the "little sister" of cult Champagne Salon. According to Forbes Magazine,"The unofficial second label of the super-prestige marquee, Salon, in that Delamotte has first rights to any grapes from Salon’s prized 50 year old vineyards in the premier Chardonnay village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger that its neighbor doesn’t need for its own Champagne."

Tasting Notes

100% Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs, rich, with a surprising delicacy, round yet mineral. Beyond its golden robe, floral fragrances (especially of rose), angelica, citrus, with a hint of ginger and, in the mouth, hints of biscuit and breadcrust on the finish.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Persistent mousse with aromas of sloes, quince and red apples. Forward and approachable, with savoury undertones contrasting stone fruit and citrus flavours." - Simon Field MW

94 Points - James Suckling:
"This is always an excellent blanc de blancs, with sliced apple, lemon and other citrus fruit, as well as mineral and chalk. It's medium-bodied with lovely density and a fine, creamy texture. Energetic and translucent. 4 years on the yeast and 100% grand cru. Drink or hold." (Jul 2024)

93 Points - The Wine Independent:
"Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV is a Côte de Blancs blend sourced from Le Mesnil, Oger and Avize. Based on the 2018 vintage it was disgorged in October 2022 then finished with a 6.5 gram per liter dosage. A bright yellow gold color with delicate, fine bubbles, it reveals a very creamy, lemon-curd nose with hints of mint, brioche, toast and honey that flow into a light to medium bodied palate with a vivid acid line enveloping abundant orchard fruit concentration with hints of lemon peel, honey and a toasty note. Elegant and refreshing, it finishes really long with a chalky grip." - Sarah Mayo (Nov 2023)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"A brilliant silver/yellow color, the NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs release is based on the 2018 vintage and comes from Avize, Mesnil, and Oger. It boasts a very pretty, very floral perfume, with notes of fresh linen, baby powder, fresh pear, melon, and white flowers. The palate reveals the mineral terroir of the Côte des Blancs, with a chalky and linear feel as well as a note of lime candies. It retains a lovely core and has a good balance throughout. This can be enjoyed now, but its nerve gives it the ability to age over the coming 8-10 years. 7 grams per liter dosage." (Dec 2024)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Based on the Côte des Blancs, the Champagne home of Chardonnay, it's logical that this producer should make a fine Blanc de Blancs. This wine has all the attributes, with crisp apple and a mineral texture that is tightly prominent. This is a fine wine, just hinting at toastiness." - Roger Voss (Dec 2022)

92 Points - Allen Meadow's Burghound:
"An elegant, pure and overtly citrusy nose offers additional breadth in the form of green apple, quinine, and notably more evident floral nuances along with yeasty hints. The highly energetic and wonderfully refined middle weight flavors are supported by a markedly firmer, and finer, mousse on the very dry but not really austere finale. This is a wine that could be enjoyed now for its youthful vivacity and punch or easily held for 5 to 8 years if you enjoy a more mature expression, which is what I would suggest. Lovely." (Oct 2024)

90 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Delamotte's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs, based on the 2018 vintage and complemented by 15% reserve wines from 2017 and 2016, is sourced from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger. Disgorged in early 2023 with seven grams per liter dosage, it offers aromas of candied lemon peel, honeysuckle and sweet pastries. Medium to full-bodied, with a rich core of fruit but a refreshing, delicately chalky finish, it’s a cuvée that, for most people, defines Delamotte. In years when Salon is not made, it’s the NV Blanc de Blancs that incorporates the fruit from the 19 parcels in Le Mesnil that inform Salon. It will be even better with additional time post disgorgement." - Kristaps Karklins (Dec 2024)
