About the Winery:
Delamotte, founded in 1760, is one of the oldest houses in Champagne. The two neighbors Salon and Delamotte became part of Bernard Hinault's Laurent-Perrier group in 1986 and were joined under the same winemaking team in 1988, thus making Delamotte the "little sister" of cult Champagne Salon.
According to Forbes Magazine, "The unofficial second label of the super-prestige marquee, Salon, in that Delamotte has first rights to any grapes from Salon’s prized 50 year old vineyards in the premier Chardonnay village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger that its neighbor doesn’t need for its own Champagne."
TASTING NOTES
Delamotte Rosé boasts a salmon-pink robe with copper hues beneath which sparkles a staggeringly complex, elegant and structured wine. On the nose, the wine releases fragrances from a basket of summer fruits: raspberries, wild strawberries and vine peaches. Hints of spiced notes (ginger, white pepper) and smoky notes (flint, pebbles) round off the bouquet. These subtle aromas resurface on the palate, sometimes reflecting the roundness of the fruit, sometimes taking on refreshing mineral notes carried by fine and creamy bubbles.
FOOD AND WINE PAIRINGS
This refined wine with slightly smoky notes is best served with gravlax salmon for a similar flavour pairing or even with Kintoa PDO ham from the Valley of the Aldudes to play on the contrast between fatty and fresh. The summer we see us naturally lean towards teaming it with a red fruit soup or a strawberry shortcake which will showcase the attributes of its Pinots Noirs.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Pouring a bright, medium salmon/orange-tinged color, the NV Champagne Rose is based on the 2019 vintage with the addition of 12% red wine from Bouzy, Ambonnay, and Tours sur Marne. Like the Brut, the wine is expressive and showing beautifully out the gate It has a fruity and spicy nose, with a delicate reductive note that benefits from air on opening, revealing very pretty notes of fresh peaches, lilac, a hint of candied grapefruit, and wet stones. It is a very charming wine on the palate, with a refined mousse, a touch of fresh ginger and white pepper, and an elegantly rounded feel in a medium frame. With a clean and stony finish, it’s versatile and drinking wonderfully now but can also age for another 6-8 years. 8 grams per liter dosage." - Audrey Frick (Dec 2024)
93 Points - James Suckling:
"This pretty, floral rosé Champagne has very bright peach, raspberry, rose petal and pomegranate aromas. It's silky and fruity, with fine bubbles. Very fresh at the end. 88% chardonnay and 12% pinot noir red wine. Based on 2021 with 15% reserve wine from 2020 and 2019. Disgorged 2024. 8 g/L dosage. Drink now." (Jul 2025)
93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"There’s a lovely delicacy to this elegant rosé Champagne, with nonetheless fine concentration and focus to its flavors of baked white peach and apricot, blood orange peel, brioche and vanilla, all carried on the fine, creamy mousse. Long and softly juicy, with the minerally underpinning coming to the fore on the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2030. 250 cases imported." - Alison Napjus (Dec 2025)
