About the Wine:
The limestone soils of Chambertin have the same ratio of fine earth to pebbles (68 to 32 percent) as Montrachet and—like the Montrachet wines—Chambertin has the potential to age magnificently. This rich, generous wine is selected from a half-hectare (1.2-acre) plot at the extreme north end of the 12.9-hectare (32-acre) vineyard, at an altitude of 275 to 300 meters (900 to 985 feet).
This wine is seductive, with its dense garnet hue and deep, brooding aromas of forest floor, dark berry, violet and mineral. The palate is densely textured, multilayered and persistent, with muscular, well-integrated tannins.
