About the Distillery:

In 1869, Big John Smith, said to have been the most experienced distiller of his day, founded Cragganmore. He lobbied for a railway siding, and using this, his business acumen and skill as a distiller, turned Cragganmore into a popular, high-quality single malt whisky.

Cragganmore takes its rock face of a name from the mountain in whose shadow its distillery sits. And this is a whisky with many high approaches and hidden valleys of flavour. Known as the most complex aroma on Speyside, it must also be one of the most delightful because the distillery can’t keep up with demand.

About the Whisky:
Cragganmore 12 Year Old is hugely complex and rich, with layers of flavour and a whiff of smoke in the finish. Speyside today is widely revered for its sublime malt whiskies and for its fine salmon fishing. It is here, in this fertile triangle of land between mountain and sea, long been known as the Garden of Scotland, that Cragganmore single malt whisky is distilled. Nestling on the banks of the legendary salmon river, Cragganmore is, for many, the home of the definitive Speyside malt.

Having won Gold at the Scotch Whisky Masters in 2010 and 2011, Cragganmore 12 Year Old is perfect for sharing when the need arises to raise a glass.

Rating and Reviews

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"The succulent aroma develops with aeration in the sweet forms of barley, cream, light caramel, and a trace of tropical fruit. Palate entry is round, borderline plump, breakfast-cereal sweet, and honeyed; at mid palate, there's a slightly oily peat smoke. Sweetly concludes with the focus on the malt."

"This oft-overlooked Speysider has been frustratingly variable in the past, but now seems to have hit greater consistency. Worm tubs and weird stills combine to give a complex malt, but one that needs help from oak to blossom fully. There are hedgerow aromas: black currant leaf, hawthorn berries, and lots of honey. A chestnut note continues on the tongue where, on the finish, a hint of smoke lurks." - Whisky Advocate

"A revered blending malt that proves itself surprisingly rich and complex given its light color. Opens up hugely candied, then adds notes of fig and dried fruit. A rooty spiciness provides a twist on the finish." - Wine Spectator
