Notes from the Winery:
Côte is the French word that refers to a hillside, seashore, border, or one of those rare sloped regions that are home to the world's most interesting vineyards, commonly found in Burgundy. Côte West is a husband and wife team dedicated to highlighting the unique characteristics of noteworthy California vineyards through minimal intervention with a nod to Burgundian tradition. As in Burgundy, they pick early to ensure lively acidity and lower alcohol, and minimize sulfur and other additions. While wife Kerrie manages the business side, husband Bret is the winemaker. Growing up in Carmel Valley he developed an early appreciation for the natural beauty of the California landscape. He received a Masters degree in Viticulture & Enology from UC Davis and got his hands dirty interning at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa and Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault Burgundy.

Vineyard:
Krueger Lane Vineyard is located the Coombsville AVA, Napa’s most recently recognized sub AVA. It lies in southeastern Napa, at the southern section of the Vaca Range. Temperatures during the growing season are moderated by the vineyard’s proximity to the San Pablo Bay, just to the south. Volcanic soils.

Ratings & Reviews

Wine Enthusiast:
"This wine is 100% varietal and quietly balanced, edgy in structure and herbaceous undertones. The highlights lean into dried herb, crayon wax and pencil shavings." - Virginie Boone (6/1/2018)
