With only 8 hectares (less than 20 acres) under vine, Clos des Brusquières is effectively a micro producer. The family-run estate produces only one wine, giving it all of their focus. The current owner Claude Courtil inherited the project from his father, and his two sons now run winemaking operations.

The family holdings are located in the Orange region within Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This area is known for its limestone-rich soils, which impart a palpable mineral component to the wines. The vines are 70 years and older, furthering the complexity. The wines are aged entirely in large cement and used oak foudres with only indigenous yeast and bottled unfiltered. If you want to taste a truly classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this is the cork to pull.

• 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault
• Owner and winemaker Claude Courtil is the godson of Henri Bonneau
• He was an apprentice to Bonneau before taking over Brusquieres
• Indigenous yeast
• 70+ year old vines
• Aged in a combination of cement and demi-muids
• A rare one domaine, one wine estate
