This impossible value comes from Bordeaux 'Bad Boy' Jean-Luc Thunevin. Who?

The creator of Chateau Valandraud, one of the world's first "garage wines". Coined a "bad boy" and a "black sheep" by Parker, Thunevin crumbled the clos in Bordeaux, home to a very traditional practice. And he clearly hasn't stopped since his first vintage in 1991.

As the holder of 20 properties, including Chateau Valandraud, Virginie de Valandraud, Chateau Bel Air Ouy, Chateau Prieure Lescours and Clos Badon Thunevin, all of which are Grand Cru vineyards in St Emilion, Jean-Luc represents an additional 25 to 30 properties, mostly located on Right Bank.

This property has been in the same family for three generations. Located in Saint Hilaire de la Noaille in the earth of Entre-Deux-Mers. The winery is certify organic since 2014.

VINEYARD AREA: 24 hectares

NATURE OF THE SOIL: Terrefort clay

GRAPE VARIETIES: 40 % Merlot, 30% Malbec, 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon

AGEING: in 15 % French oak barrels and in vats.

TASTING NOTES:  Beautifully ripe, full-bodied, opulent, and undeniably charming, it’s loaded with notions of blackcurrants, licorice, dried herbs, chocolate and earth, with just subtle background oak. Despite all the upfront fruit and charm, it’s balanced and classic, has a stacked mid-palate, and considerable elegance. Drink it over the coming decade or more. 40% Merlot, 30% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
