About the Wine:
The second wine of the Château is the Chevalier De Lascombes. It spent 16 months in once-used oak.

Blend: 68% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon

Harvest: From September 7th to 27th. Hand harvesting in several passes, according to the level of maturity of the plots. Meticulous sorting in the vines and in the vatroom.

Vinification: Gentle vinification by infusion. Cold maceration. Maceration period from 30 to 35 days decided by daily tastings.

Ageing: In barrels and casks

ABV: 14%

Tasting Notes: Freshness, vibrant fruit! The Chevalier immediately delivers a seductive expression of the estate. All the charm and silkiness you would expect from a great Margaux. Structured but supple tannins. It can be eaten young. Or after a few years in the cellar for the informed amateur.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
The second wine of Château Lascombes, the 2022 Chevalier de Lascombes is beautifully textured and medium-bodied, offering bright cassis and darker, almost blue fruits, alongside spicy floral nuances. It has an elegant mouthfeel and a great finish. Aged in oak barrels, this should evolve well for 10-15 years.

93 Points - Wine Review Online:
"The engaging Chevalier de Lascombes captivates with its suave texture, emblematic of wines from Margaux. Its approachability and richness likely reflect the unusually high—for the Médoc—amount (65 percent) of Merlot in the blend. It delivers more complexity and refinement than most “second wines.” A delight to drink now, this is a great second wine.

90 Points - Decanter:
A ripe and concentrated nose with hints of sweetness to the black and red berry fruit. Smooth and silky, this is friendly and approachable with chalky-edged, cool blue fruit, fine but grippy tannins and minty, mineral and oak-spiced undercurrents. Feels really well made, purposeful and nicely detailed, while being easy to approach and enjoy right away.

90 Points - Vinous:
The 2022 Chevalier de Lascombes is a very pleasant second wine, one that is not trying to be too much. Ripe red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, menthol and a touch of spice all build nicely in this gentle, open-knit Margaux. This is very good for what it is. (Drink between 2024-2032)
