About the Winery:
Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance and ageing potential.   Chateau de Beaucastel's Chateauneuf-du-Pape rouge has previously been ranked as the #1 wine on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of the Year, and made the top 10 several times. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All thirteen varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the sixties.

About this Wine:
The 30 hectares of Coudoulet are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel on the other side of the A7 motorway. For reasons that have now become obvious, Coudoulet is often considered the baby Beaucastel. The Coudoulet soil has many similarities to that of Beaucastel. It is made out of Molasse seabed covered by diluvial alpine deposits. These pebbles called galets play a big role: they absorb the heat during the day and release it slowly at night which gives a good start to the vines in the Spring.

Marsanne 30%
Viognier 30%
Clairette 20%
Bourboulenc 20%

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - James Suckling:
An excellent white Cotes-du-Rhone with a wonderful balance of stone fruit, delicate tannins and lively acidity. Already so enticing and harmonious. Aromas of summer meadow and orange blossoms. A cuvee of viognier, marsanne and bourboulenc. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
Based on Bourboulenc, Viognier, and Marsanne, the 2024 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel Blanc is a killer white offering honeyed peach, orange blossom, white flowers, and a kiss of minerality. It's medium-bodied, pure, focused, and elegant, with a layered mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This is legit fabulous stuff that's as good as many a top Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc and will drink beautifully over the coming 4-6 years. Drink 2025-2030.<!--more-->One of the stalwarts of the appellation, Château de Beaucastel continues to produce an incredible array of wines from their estate on the northwestern edge of the appellation. Looking at the vintages reviewed here, the 2023s show the approachable style of the vintage, yet the reds bring impressive density and concentration. The estate lost some Grenache due to shatter in 2023, which resulted in a higher Mourvèdre component in the classic cuvée (40% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 10% Counoise, 10% Syrah), giving it a more serious, focused style than most in the vintage. The whites are absolutely brilliant, with the 2024 Roussanne Vieilles Vignes showing heavenly levels of richness and depth from very old Roussanne from a single parcel just behind the château. It’s consistently one of the greatest white wines in the world. The tiny production Hommage à Jacques Perrin comes from a single parcel planted by Jacques with the idea of the perfect blend for a Châteauneuf du Pape and is always based on 60% Mourvèdre and 20% each of Syrah and Grenache. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to taste the 2024 reds from barrel, but I’ll report on these next year. The estate recently wrapped up a massive renovation of the cellar that was built with sustainability front and center and will be using an evaporative cooling mechanism with stored rainwater. As usual, this brilliant family never puts a foot wrong. (Drink between 2025-2030)

93 Points - Decanter:
This is great, showing such energy and intensity on the palate. It’s so fresh and lively, with a lovely texture. Really delicious, sappy acidity running through it, giving a natural balance and a long finish. The domaine has increased the percentage of Bourboulenc in the blend this year. An excellent vintage of this cuvée.
