About the Winery:
Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance and ageing potential. Chateau de Beaucastel's Chateauneuf-du-Pape rouge has previously been ranked as the #1 wine on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of the Year, and made the top 10 several times. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All thirteen varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the sixties.
Winemaker Notes:
Elegant, clear ruby-red color with purple highlights. Beautifully fresh, the nose shows an attractive aromatic bouquet with notes of fresh red fruit such as crushed strawberries. This easy-drinking freshness continues on the palate with a very nice balance, roundness and delicious smoothness thanks to soft and velvety tannins and beautiful fruity aromas. Ample and refined, the finish offers a very nice length with a hint of salinity. A very fine wine for this 2023 vintage.
Blend: 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah, 10% Cinsault
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"A solid, focused, juicy and poised wine, showing red berries, sweet spices and dried-flower aromas. Medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Lovely crushed-strawberry character to the silky texture. Bright and fruit-forward, this has a seductive, succulent finish and a lift of peppercorns. Drink or hold." (Apr 2025)
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Bottled three months ago and showing beautifully, the 2023 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel is based on 30% each of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre with 10% Cinsault and brought up all in foudre. It offers darker berries, pepper, sappy flowers, and some obvious stony, earth-like minerality in a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, layered style. It's balanced with terrific purity, ripe tannins, and outstanding length, offering incredible pleasure today, yet it will keep for 10-12 years. Drink 2025-2036." (Nov 2025)
92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel reveals aromas of dark berries, flowers, spices and garrigue, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, round and charming palate framed by velvety tannins. It concludes with a long, fruity and gourmand finish. This is a great vintage for Coudoulet—a blend of 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault." - Yohan Castaing (Oct 2025)
90 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2023 Côtes-du-Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel turned out well, unwinding with fragrant black cherry, blackberry and earthy scents. Medium-bodied, silky and refreshing, the 2023 is a delicate, finesse-driven red Côtes-du-Rhône from the talented Perrin family, clocking out with energy on the refined finish. Cropped at roughly 28 hl/ha." - Nicolas Greinacher (Oct 2025)
90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Salty and earthy, with a ripe center of black raspberry and cherry that streams through, laced with dusty earth and alder smoke. Polished rooibos tea tannins keep a gentle hold through the delicious, briny finish. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsaut. Drink now through 2029." - Kristen Bieler (Mar 2026)
