About This Wine:
Jean-René Chartron founded the Maison Chartron et Trébuchet in 1984 with Louis Trébuchet, manager of a wine trading company. Chartron himself comes from a family that has owned Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet since 1859. Vincent Sauvestre, a fourth generation winegrower of some 240 prestigious hectares of vines, acquired the company in 2004.
Tasting Notes: Medium to full bodied, earthy, fruity and mineral. Structure and tannin on the finish, they age well from 8-10 years
About Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC:
Nuits Saint Georges was established as an AOC in 1936. It has 757 acres of grapes and produces mostly red wine (97% red; 3% white). Nuits refers to “walnuts in the area’ (not night, a common misconception). There are 41 premier Cru vineyards.
Winemking:
VINIFICATION: Harvested by hand. Traditional vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel. Pre-fermentation – temperature controlled cold maceration during 10 days. Long fermentation during which punchdown and pumpover are performed. Post-fermentation - maceration at 30°C for 5 days.
AGEING: Aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
