André Clouet is a small yet exceptional grower-producer and a master of Pinot Noir, sourcing fruit exclusively from 20 acres of coveted mid-slope vineyards in the Grand Cru villages of Bouzy and Ambonnay. The Clouet family has been in the village of Bouzy since 1492. Centuries later, they became the official printmakers for the court of King Louis XV of France, and the classically pretty labels that grace their Champagne bottles today pay homage to that important aesthetic history. André Clouet officially founded the Champagne house in 1741 and his descendant, Jean-Francois, who makes the wines today, believes it is this long history of farming the same vines for centuries that is the secret to the Clouet terroir. In addition to sourcing fruit from only top-notch vineyards grown on mineral-rich chalk soils, the wines of André Clouet offer remarkable complexity with notably creamy textures due to Jean-François’ tradition of extended aging on the lees.

The Clouet portfolio includes 10 uniquely crafted wines. André Clouet’s Grande Reserve is characterized by its fine and elegant flavors and aromas; with each sip you can perceive the sweetness of the fruit and the acidity that comes from aging in bottles. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir and aged 36 months and reflects the classic Bouzy style: fresh, fine and aromatic on the nose, with white fruit and toasted and smoky notes. Sweet citrus fruits combine with red berries and chalky minerality. It is round and delicate on the palate, fruity and creamy, juicy and light at the same time, with a finely integrated bubble. Its finish is intense and comes wrapped in a salty delicacy, with elegant reminiscences of pastries, nuts and toast. The pleasant flavors of lemon juice and apricot give it an extra touch of freshness that tops off each sip.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Falstaff:
"Pale green yellow, silver reflections, fine, persistent mousse. Fine yellow tropical fruit notes, a hint of mango and fresh meadow herbs, candied orange zest. Medium body, fine white apple fruit, fresh structure, mineral and chalky finish, a firm food companion, versatile." (Oct 2023)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"The effusive nose of candied citrus, ripe pear and brioche pulls you into this fresh and creamy champagne that hits all the pleasure buttons for a non-vintage Brut. Then the chalky freshness at the finish pulls you back for another sip. Excellent balance! 100% pinot noir. Drink now." (Dec 2021)

91 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The NV Brut Grand Réserve Grand Cru is a pure Pinot Noir from Bouzy. It's pure, fresh, fine and aromatic on the nose and round and delicate on the palate. The fruit-intense finish is chalky-mineral and stimulatingly fresh in its salty finesse and elegant yeastiness. Nice lemon juice flavors give an extra kick of refreshment. This is a picture-book NV Brut. No indication of disgorgement given. Tasted with Jean-François Clouet's German importer in Bremen." - Stephan Reinhardt (Apr 2021)
