Winemaker Notes:

Chianti Classico embodies the intensity and freshness of our territory. The austere elegance of Sangiovese is enhanced by the addition of variable percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The result is a wine which is fresh, but also intense, fruity, full bodied and balanced. It has a good acidity and a lingering taste.

Bright ruby red color. The bouquet on the nose is intense, with rich cherry and red berry aromas and leafy undertones. On the palate it is silky, balanced, with medium body, refined tanning and a long flavorful finish of blackberry and chocolate.

Ideal with red grilled meat, like Bistecca Fiorentina, and semi to well-aged cheeses.

Blend: 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - James Suckling:
"A dense, velvety and delicious Chianti Classico showing aromas of Morello cherries, wild berries and dried flowers on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Plenty of texture, with a core of berries funneling through. Flavorful finish. Drink or hold." (Jul 2024)

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Chianti Classico is an elegant, gracious wine. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, tobacco, cinnamon and dried flowers all take shape in a decidedly delicate, understated wine from Rampolla. A model of elegance and finesse, the 2021 is showing beautifully today. There is perhaps just a touch of VA in the bouquet, but it is not especially evident. The blend is 80% Sangiovese, 16% Merlot and a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese was aged in cask, while the French varieties were raised in smaller French barrels. (Drink between 2024-2036)" - Antonio Galloni (7/24)

91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Maraschino cherry, pomegranate, smoked meat, earth and rosemary flavors highlight this sleek red, which is defined by vivid acidity and solid tannins, with a dry, sinewy finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2037. 3,000 cases made, 1,250 cases imported." - BS (10/24)
