Notes from the Winemaker:

From the homonymous single vineyard, planted in 1961 within the Serralunga cru and yielding a tiny crop. Extract-packed, blockbuster body, rich, ample bouquet. It peaks at 15-30 years old, depending on vintage.

Tasting Notes:
Intense garnet with subtle coral reflections. Complex, ethereal, ample bouquet, reminiscent of fruit, tobacco, licorice, roses, violets and vanilla. Full + silky-textured on the palate, smooth, velvety tannins, wonderful structure and flavors, almondy finish. Serving suggestions: Important, rich, structured dishes, red meat, game, seasoned cheese.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Antonio Galloni Vinous:
"The 2011 Barolo Vigna Cerretta is sumptuous and racy to the core. Hints of cinnamon, pipe tobacco and orange zest add an element of exoticism as the 2011 opens up in the glass. Soft and pliant throughout, the Cerretta is a rare 2011 Serralunga Barolo that will drink well with minimal cellaring. -- Antonio Galloni (March 2015)

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2010 vintage):
"The 2010 Barolo Vigna Cerretta is a wine of enormous intensity and textural richness. Compact, heavier soils result in a bold, velvety quality of fruit with lingering tones of dark plum and prune over spice and leather. This Barolo delivers most of its brawn on the bouquet: The mouthfeel is light handed and delicate. Drink: 2016-2028." - Monica Larner (Jul 2014)

93+ Points - Antonio Galloni Vinous (2010 vintage):
"The 2010 Barolo Vigna Cerretta floats on the palate with an attractive melange of sweet red cherries, savory herbs, wild flowers and fennel. The Vigna Cerretta is darker and more vibrant than the Rapèt, but, it, too is impeccable in its balance. Hints of dark cherry, plum, tobacco and menthol flesh out on the finish. Overall, this is a fairly delicate style for Cerretta and Serralunga, but it all works." -Antonio Galloni (January 2014)

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2010 vintage):
"Good deep red. Sweet but subdued aromas of dark cherry and truffle. Silky and rich on the palate, showing lovely depth of red and darker fruit flavors complemented by nutty oak. Distinctly more vibrant than the Rapet. Finishes with a pungent note of fruity pepper, firm but fine tannins and lingering dark fruit flavors." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Dec '13)
