BAROLO “VIGNA CERRETTA†DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo Michet & Lampià of the homonymous single vineyard, planted in 1961 within the Serralunga cru. Aged 24 months partly in 25 hl Slavonian oak and partly in barriques, plus an additional 12 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Color:Â Deep garnet, with coral reflections.
Bouquet:Â Ample, elegant and ethereal, very rich and fragrant, shows a wealth of aromas reminiscent of dried fruit, roses, underbrush, tobacco, bay leaves and vanilla.
Palate:Â Full body, luscious flavors and a very long finish closing on almond notes.

90+ Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Medium red. Pungent nose combines cherry, minerals, licorice, wild herbs and leather, with a lightly medicinal aspect. Then juicy, intense and deep but a bit reduced on the palate. Today the wine's floral and sweet components are partly covered by firm tannic spine. This will need at least four or five years to develop." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Oct '11)
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2007 vintage):
"The 2007 Barolo Vigna Cerretta is soft, seamless and remarkably open for a Barolo from Serralunga. Dark cherries, flowers, minerals and licorice are some of the notes that flow from this beautifully articulated Barolo. The round, harmonious finish invites a second taste. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
This is a strong set of new wines from Ca’ Rome’. The 2007 Baroli saw ten days of manual pumpovers and punchdowns, malolactic fermentation in steel and one year in barrique followed by another year and a half in 25-hectoliter casks." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2011)
92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2006 vintage):
"A rich, ripe, powerful wine, vibrant and laced with cherry, earth, mineral and spice aromas and flavors. This has everything it needs, including time in the bottle, with a fine, spicy finish. Best from 2013 through 2032. 833 cases made." –BS (Mar 31, 2011)
90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2006 vintage):
"Bright medium red. Slightly liqueur-like red fruits complicated by underbrush and tobacco on the nose. Densely packed and classically dry, in a distinctly old and rather austere style. But there's a sweetness here as well that I haven't noticed in recent vintages of this producer's Barolos. This wine comes from a 1961 planting and was aged mostly in 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Dec '09)
