Philosophy
Established in 2008, Captûre Wines is inspired by California’s frontier spirit while staying true to time-honored French winemaking traditions. Our origins are in the steep, remote terroir of the Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges. Inspired by California's frontier spirit, our goal is to seek out little-known, high elevation sites in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties.
Tasting Notes:
Our 2012 Alliance invokes the nature of the adventurous explorer, showcasing lesser-known mountain vineyards and bringing them to life. Captivating elements that are both delicate and robust, this vintage comes from our mountain vineyard high upon Spring Mountain in Napa Valley, ranging from 1,100 to 1,900 feet in elevation. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, this Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc reveals perfumed notes of fresh violet and blackberry that culminate in a distinctive, silky finish with elegant, smooth tannins.
Appellation: Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley
Composition: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Harvest Dates: October 12, 20, & 29, 2012
Aging: 18 months in French oak, 60% new
Alcohol: 14.5%
Cases Produced: 1,070 cases
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This is made from a majority Cabernet Sauvignon, with 11% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. This makes for a softly layered tease of cinnamon, cedar and brush, with the tannins dry and grippy. Black licorice and violet dot the nose and palate."
