About the winery:
Caprili is a Brunello estate in the southwestern sector of the Montalcino appellation near the hamlet of Tavernelle. They are considered one of the old guard of Montalcino producers as they were established in 1965 when they split off from the famous Pieve Santa Restituta estate. The estate is extremely well located, next to Pieve Santa Restituta but also immediately adjacent to Soldera.

The Bartolommei family moved into the farm home at Caprili in 1952 as sharecroppers. In 1965, they decided to buy the property from the Castelli-Martinozzi family, owners of Villa Santa. Restituta estate. In the same year, 1965, they planted the first vineyard Their first vintage of Brunello was 1978. Today the winery is run by the youthful and dynamic Giacomo Bartolommei, grandson of the founder

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
This savory young red showcases ripe black cherry and black plum flavors while flashes of spice and earthy truffle tones lend depth. It's full-bodied, with taut, close-grained tannins that lend a firm structure. Drink through 2026. — Kerin O’Keefe

90 Points - Vinous Media:
The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is spicy, perfumed with dusty rose, dried strawberries and hints of camphor. It’s much more energetic than anticipated on the palate, as juicy acidity and vibrant red berry fruits are complemented by a sweet herbal twang. The 2020 finishes classically dry and poised, with the slightest hint of licorice that lingers. This is without a doubt one of the more pretty and balanced Rossos of this opulent vintage. (Drink between 2024-2026)
