About the Wine
Nova Domus is Cantina Terlano’s Terlaner Riserva, named for the medieval castle ruins above Terlano. The 2022 is an Alto Adige Terlano DOC white blend of 70% Pinot Bianco, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Sauvignon Blanc.
Vineyards and Winemaking
The grapes grow on south and southwest-facing slopes at 300–600 meters, on sandy soils with porphyry gravel. The winery harvests by hand, presses whole clusters and ferments the wine in 30-hectoliter oak casks. The Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay undergo partial malolactic fermentation. The wine ages on its lees for 12 months in large casks, and the varieties are blended three months before bottling. 14% ABV.
Tasting Profile and Pairings
Apricot, mandarin and melon meet anise, mint and sage. A creamy midpalate gives way to a long, saline finish. Serve with grilled salmon, seared tuna, veal saltimbocca or truffle fondue.
Ratings & Reviews
97 Points – Wine Enthusiast: Cellar Selection. “When you look at the mountains around Terlano, this wine starts to make sense. It's got that same kind of imposing presence. Alpine herbs and ripe yellow fruits collide with this intense mineral core, like someone bottled a mountain stream running over sun-warmed rocks. The blend comes together so seamlessly you forget you're drinking separate varieties. There's power here, but it never feels heavy. Drink now–2045.” – Jeff Porter (Dec 2025)
97 Points – Decanter Magazine: Platinum, Decanter World Wine Awards. “A joyous sotto voce nose of spring meadow flowers sprinkled over the unbridled purity of ripe pineapple, Meyer lemon and green apple fruit. Saline elements infuse the structure and acidity and proceed towards the lengthy finish.” – DWWA judging panel (Jun 2025)
96 Points – James Suckling: “Elegant and vibrant with white pepper and flinty minerality, lemon peel and white flowers. Full-bodied, it shows tension and crisp acidity combined with citrus flavors and a tight-knit structure full of savory notes. Drink or hold.” – Aldo Fiordelli (May 2025)
94 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “Here's a beautiful wine that will appeal to those who love the lighter and crisper side of Alto Adige winemaking. The Cantina Terlano 2022 Alto Adige Terlano Riserva Nova Domus is a blend of 70% Pinot Bianco, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Sauvignon Blanc from different sites and varying elevations. You get Alpine brightness in this wine, with stone fruit, quince, spice and saffron. Brisk acidity rides over a silky finish. This is a release of 40,000 bottles.” – Monica Larner (Dec 2025)
94 Points – Vinous Media: “The 2022 Terlaner Cuvee Riserva Nova Domus opens with a minty freshness as nuances of split pine mix with chamomile, freshly sliced apples and pears. It is elegant in feel, with nearly oily textures supported by fresh acidity and a pure blend of white pit fruits, citrus and spice. The Nova Domus tapers off supremely balanced and youthfully poised, leaving a subtle spike of ginger that pinches at the cheeks.” – Eric Guido (Dec 2025)
92 Points – Wine Spectator: “There’s a lovely, mouthwatering vibrancy to this graceful white, which offers a focused display of ripe and tangy Granny Smith apple, dried apricot, chopped almond and spun honey flavors. Fragrant on the racy finish, with hints of white blossoms, ground ginger, white pepper and fleur de sel. Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2037. 2,835 cases made, 300 cases imported.” – Alison Napjus (Nov 2025)
