About the Winery:
Cà Romé is a true family winery, nestled in the heart of Barbaresco. It was founded by Romano Marengo in 1980 after a 30-year career in the wine industry, during which he dreamed of making his own terroir-driven wines. Today it is run by Romano’s children, Winemaker Giuseppe Marengo and Director of Operations, Paola Marengo. The winery’s vineyards in Barbaresco and Serralunga D’Alba consist of historic, marl-heavy soils and produce world-class, terroir-driven Barbaresco and Barolo wines.

About this Wine:
These 45-year old vines are planted with a density of 5,500 vines per hectare (2,226 per acre), and a very low crop yield of 1.5 kg per vine. The resulting wine is crimson with dark ruby highlights and a complex, elegant bouquet reminiscent of blackberries and spices confirmed on a full, fresh, flavorful palate with a consistent, lingering finish.

Varietal Composition: 100% Barbera

Elevation: 270-320 meters (890-1,050 ft) above sea level

Vine Age: 45 years

Soil: Light-colored marl and very calcareous

Aging Regimen: Aged 12 months in mix of 25 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels and French barriques, followed by 8 months aging in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes: Violet red with dark ruby reflections. Ample nose with ripe dark berries and spices. Full and well-balanced on the palate. Pairs well with roasted meats, game and aged cheese.
