About the Winery:
Cà Romé is a true family winery, nestled in the heart of Barbaresco. It was founded by Romano Marengo in 1980 after a 30-year career in the wine industry, during which he dreamed of making his own terroir-driven wines. Today it is run by Romano’s children, Winemaker Giuseppe Marengo and Director of Operations, Paola Marengo.
The winery’s vineyards in Barbaresco and Serralunga D’Alba consist of historic, marl-heavy soils and produce world-class, terroir-driven Barbaresco and Barolo wines.
About this Wine:
This is a single-vineyard parcel planted in 1972 in the Serralunga cru under MGA Cerretta, renowned for its structure. The clones are Nebbiolo Michet and Lampia, and the density is 5,000 vines per hectare (2,023 per acre), with a very low crop yield of 1.3 kg per vine. ‘Rapet’ means small grape in dialect. In 1986, this vineyard was hit by a hailstorm, resulting in bunches with small grapes.
Tasting Notes:
Intense garnet red with ruby reflections. Fruity aromas with floral and spicy notes. Intense flavor with opulent and enveloping tannins and a long finish. Because of its structure and body, it pairs well with meat, game and cheese.

Ratings and Reviews
94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2017 Barolo Rapèt is bright, juicy and absolutely delicious. This fruity Serralunga Barolo offers tons of immediacy in the open-knit style that is typical of parts of this Serralunga vineyard. Silky, impeccably balanced tannins add to the wine's considerable allure. The 2017 is not super complex, but it is racy and dangerously delicious. (Drink between 2023-2035)" - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2021)
93 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Rapet lies on calcareous sandy-clay soils in Serralunga. Violet-edged and floral, it has a focused palate of dark fruits, exotic spices and a woody, chocolatey mid-palate. Slightly fleshier than Cerretta, it displays a smooth, ripe, chocolatey, earthy character." - James Button (Aug 2021)
92 Points - James Suckling:
"Rather exotic aromas of cherry liqueur, turkish delight and fresh walnuts, turning to very acute, spicy (almost salty) notes on the palate that almost obliterate the fruit flavors for now. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Give this plenty of time to even out. Best after 2023." (Mar 2021)
