About This Wine:

Cerequio is an important vineyard known for its superior terroir, comprised of loose, deep soil. The land gives the vines greater access to water, which favors the production of wines that are more structured, tannic and powerful.

Located in the Piedmont town of La Morra, the vineyard is in a small area called Cerequio, where the Nebbiolo varietal thrives in calcareous-clay soil with a low percentage of sand. This 100% Nebbiolo wine is produced from Nebbiolo vines that are over 30 years old and enjoy great ventilation and south-east exposure.

This wine has a gratifying garnet-red color with highlights which evolve to burnt orange hues as it ages. It has a fruit nose of cherry and violet accompanied by hints of balsamic, vanilla and licorice.

Intense, elegant and persistent in taste, this wine expresses red fruit notes that give way to tobacco and leather as it ages.

This wine is best served at 61°F-63°F.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"The winemaking team at Damilano has produced a gorgeous Cerequio that shows the finesse, power and aging potential that makes 2006 such a cellarworthy vintage. This is a rich, jam-packed wine with blackberries, mocha, currants and black licorice overtones." - ML (9/1/2011)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2006 Barolo Cerequio is all red berries, flowers and sweet French oak. This shows terrific detail and nuance, both qualities that are the hallmarks of Cerequio, a vineyard that yields wines of first-class pedigree. Like a finely-cut stone, there is a level of clarity, depth and precision here I find highly appealing. This, too, is another strong effort from Damilano. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2010)
