Tasting Notes:
Nose: This blush liquid delivers initial notes of warming spices and candied citrus peels, a sweet, enticing bouquet of perfumed juniper, baking spices and oak. The delicate floral, herbaceous notes of The Botanist combine with the subtle hint of dried fruits from the wood.
Each nose of the glass entices you to discover a new element as candied fruits, sweet, fleshy orange, warming cinnamon, coconut and almonds emerge, complimenting the classic juniper style.
Palate: On the palate, the softness of the spirit is a delight. The gentle elegance of the cask rested Botanist holds a complexity and balance that is a joy to taste.
The cask influence shapes the spirit, bringing extra viscosity to the palate while the symphony of botanicals combines with the spices of the wood to create a deep mouthfeel. Captivating oak, expert distillation and botanicals combined with the influence of wood and time create a magical experience.
Finish: On the finish, the oak influence begins to fade as the heart of The Botanist reveals itself in a rush of fresh herbal notes, juniper, coriander and citrus.

"Matured in an oak cask for three years, this gin has an amber hue and vanilla aroma. Overall, it drinks like more like whiskey than gin. It opens with cedar, oak and a hint of butterscotch, then finishes with sweet spices and a curl of orange peel."
Grade: A- (Drinkhacker)
"This has all the herbal complexity for which Botanist is famous, redolent of pine, orange peel, and some ruddy forest floor notes. On the palate, things shift away from that classically green experience as notes of the barrel come into focus. Initially sweet with a stronger citrus punch, a complex cast of characters soon emerges: notes of saffron and grapefruit aren’t far afield, but the hints of gingerbread and cloves are less expected. A strong peppermint note gives the finish a Christmassy feel. All told: Not an overwhelming departure from the Botanist you know and love, but with a unique kiss that turns it on its edge just so."
"On the nose, there’s a nice soft juniper background present, supported by lots of pink peppercorn and distinct lemon zestiness. It’s quite bright overall, lightly accented by oak and barrel influences. On the palate, this turns rather spicy, with coriander-like notes but also a warmness suggesting light butterscotch and a little honeycomb. The moderate residual sweetness works well for the style and I imagine this would be quite pleasant with tonic." - Paste Magazine
"Intriguing rose gold colour. Warm palate of herb, toffee and oak. Characterful."
