Distillery Notes:
Wild. Foraged. Distilled. The First And Only Islay Dry Gin. A progressive exploration of the botanical heritage of our isle of Islay.

The Botanist is a gin of layered complexity. A progressive exploration of the botanical heritage of our isle of Islay. Nine classic gin botanicals are augmented by 22 local herbs and flowers, foraged responsibly and by hand from the hills, shores and bogs of this fertile Hebridean island by our own team of botanical scientists. The result is a gin as much for the mind as the palate; a thinking person’s gin. A roller coaster botanical odyssey in a glass.

Tasting Notes:

Character: The spirit is satin smooth gliding over the palate like no gin you have ever tried before. A totally seductive experience.

Nose: The aromas explode like an olfactory Aurora Borealis filling the senses with meteorites of smell sensations as they explode from the glass. Sweet delicate menthol, apple mint, spring woodlands, juniper, coriander with aniseed undertones, lemon and orange peel, a bouquet of summer flowers on the machir, honey from thistle, coconut from gorse, wild mint and summer meadows. It's a magical melody of Islay's natural bounty from the Atlantic washed beaches to the summit of heather covered hills. Inhale and you're there on the "Queen of the Hebrides"!

Palate: The taste is rich and mellow; cool on entry then as it reaches the back palate you can feel the warmth and absolute purity of slow unhurried distillation. This is a bewitching, delectable and luxurious gin; its citrus freshness excites and stimulates the taste buds allowing you to experience a starburst of flavors as they explode across the palate.

Finish: All this from a beaten up old pot still, operated by beaten up distillers on the coast of heaven.

Awards/Reviews:

"Although the “Botanist” name might suggest a floral gin, instead the flavor profile veers toward herbs and spices. There's a subtle, herbal scent, with anise flavors up front, backed by coriander seed and cassia bark on the spicy finish." - Wine Enthusiast

"The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is clearly a labour of love, from hand-picking 22 different botanicals to the 17 hour distillation. The 31 botanicals (of which the 22 Islay botanicals are embossed in the glass of their redesigned bottle), are masterfully well balanced in this complex, herbal and floral gin. The Botanist gin is exquisite and it makes an outstanding gin and tonic." - The Gin Guide
