About the Winery:
The winery was founded by Bruno Broglia, then continues over time, a thousand year tradition, which is now carried out with commitment and passion from the sons Gian Piero and Paolo.

Broglia's Gavi di Gavi (or simply Gavi) "La Meirana" is the signature wine of the Broglia family, one of only a few producers in Piemonte to focus almost exclusively on the production of white wines. The name derives from Gavi, the town at the center of its production zone in the Province of Alessandria, close to the coastal Ligurian border.

Fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, the Cortese grapes are manually harvested, collected in wooden crates and pressed immediately to maintain their integrity, producing a light, citrusy, full-bodied wine that has long been favored by restaurants in the neighboring port of Genoa as a wine that pairs well with local seafood caught off the Ligurian coast.

Pale yellow with green highlights, this dry, opulent and utterly delicious wine has fine and delicate perfume, hints of anise and flowers, and a great finish, most appealing to those who like big, rich unoaked Carneros or Russian River Valley Chardonnays.

About this Wine:
This is the most representative and classic wine produced by the winery and it is for this reason that its label carries the name “Meirana” on it. As a matter of fact the oldest document which states the origin of the name “Gavi” is preserved at the Record Office in Genova and mentions vineyard and chestnut woods on a spot called Meirana. That document dates back to 971 A.D.

TASTING NOTES: The color is pale straw yellow with green reflections. The bouquet on the nose is fine and delicate with lots of fruits, such as peach, melon and pink grapefruit, together with some hints of anise and flowers. Very fresh and balanced sip, with a long fruity finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Ideal as an aperitif; perfect with grilled fish, sea salt bream and fish soup.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - James Suckling:
I like the freshness and focus, with beautiful citrus, orchard fruit, orange blossoms and minerals. It has a medium body, bright acidity and a fine texture. Very attractive and poised. Drink now.
