About the Winemaker:
Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in Carneros, a region located on the southern tip of Napa Valley. In the late 1880s, a Missouri-born settler named Boon Fly planted grapes and fruit trees on the property. An Italian winemaker named Johnny Garetto bought the land in 1927 and farmed it until 1961, when he sold to Beringer.
Under the Copelands’ leadership, Bouchaine has grown from a pair of ramshackle buildings into a thriving vineyard estate. With imagination and passion, Gerret and Tatiana have fashioned wines and a wine country experience for visitors that is a distillation of their remarkable lives, at home in Delaware and in Napa Valley.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Fruity and robust, this full-bodied wine is packed with black cherries, blackberries and light oak spices, while moderate tannins give the texture some grip. It has good concentration and structure for hearty food pairings." - Jim Gordon (12/31/2022)
91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This is nicely rendered—compact and energetic, without being too dense or overly fruity—offering juicy red currant and raspberry notes mixed with black tea and savory hints, with everything knitting nicely through the finish. Drink now through 2026. 3,900 cases made." - James Molesworth (December 31, 2022)
91 Points - James Suckling:
"A fragrant nose of strawberries, cherries, grilled herbs, mushrooms and spice box. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and crisp acidity. Fresh, juicy and crunchy. Drink now. (11/4/21)"
91 Points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent):
"Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2019 Estate Pinot Noir has an intense nose of ripe Bing cherries, crushed black raspberries, and wild strawberries, plus hints of rosehip tea and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, it has very fine, plush tannins and bags of juicy red fruit, finishing with a peppery kick. Alcohol 14.3%. Drink: 2022-2030. (6/29/22)"
