About the Winery:
Since 1829, Bollinger has been producing great Champagnes with a powerful, sophisticated and complex style. In 2006, the prestigious French wine magazine La Revue du Vin de France surveyed the most significant group of sommeliers and wine writers to help select the top 50 Champagne Houses. This would be regarded as the flag-bearer for the greatness of Champagne as a unique wine region. Bollinger was selected as the Number #1 House by this group.
With 399 acres of vineyards situated in the best Grands Crus and Premiers Crus villages, Bollinger relies on its own estate for nearly two-thirds of its grape requirements, including the Pinot Noir that gives its Champagne its distinctive roundness and elegance.
About this Wine:
Each new edition of the Bollinger PN cuvée brings with it a singular and contemporary vision of the Maison’s terroir and expertise, acting as a symbol of the union between tradition and innovation. Today, Bollinger welcomes a new edition into their range: PN TX20. The base year is a 2020. The principal cru is Tauxières and and reserve wines including 2008 and 2012 make up more than 25% of the blend. The result of a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir, designed to make terroir the star of the show.
Situated on the southwest slopes of the Montagne de Reims, the Tauxières cru benefits from a unique exposure and soil, blending chalk and clay, creating ideal conditions for the Pinot Noir to thrive. This prestigious vineyard is renowned for the freshness, elegance, and aromatic complexity it imparts to the wines. It is from this exceptional terroir that the PN TX20 cuvée draws its structure, precision, and distinctive character.
Its dosage is moderate: 8 grams per liter. Its cellar aged for twice as long as stipulated by the Appellation.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Golden yellow flecked with gold.
On the Nose: The nose opens with scents of fresh citrus and lemon, followed by aromas of white stone fruits, peach and quince. The finish is enhanced by subtle mineral, flinty notes.
On the Palate: First, notes of redcurrant and subtle freshness. Then comes beautiful richness, depth and vinosity with delicate touches of stewed fruits bringing extra complexity, all coming together in a lovely long finish.
Ratings & Reviews
95 Points - James Suckling:
"Very vinous. Captivating aromas of subtle strawberries, flint, gunmetal and crushed stones. Medium-bodied with beautiful purity and length, this has ultrafine bubbles that blend in nicely and go on for minutes. Real clarity. 2020 base vintage with 25% reserve wines. No barrel fermentation. All pinot noir. Dosage 8 g/L." (Jul 2025)
94 Points - Wine Spectator:
"An enticing waft of fragrant spices draws you into the glass, where ripe and juicy black cherry and currant fruit is underscored by a clean swathe of underlying salinity. Details of pickled ginger, crystallized honey, biscuit and white blossoms expand nicely on the plush mousse, which is raw silk–like in feel. This is rich and expressive, with good depth, yet its chiseled acidity provides fine definition throughout. Mouthwatering finish. Disgorged February 2025. Drink now through 2035." - Alison Napjus (Dec 2025))
94 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Bollinger's PN series has only gained in popularity, showcasing the house's expertise with Pinot Noir. For the latest edition, the house has reverted to the lesser-known Pinot Noir premier cru of Tauxières in a cool pocket of the southern face of the Montagne de Reims, comprised once more of just under half of the base year plus reserves from 2019 and 2018, and reserves from 2012 and 2008 aged in magnum. At first it's full of the exuberant pink-tinged fruit of the ultra-ripe, hot season; juicy raspberry and sweet apricots, rounded and approachable. Both the cool, chalky restraint of the village and the added shot of smoky, charry, honeyed richness of the reserve wine – not to mention the acid focus of the 2008 and 2012 – elevate it dramatically, leaving the wine with no lack of drive and refreshment factor. This is another highly imaginative, rewarding release, a little less mineral and restrained than the PN VZ 19, yet just as layered. (Drink between 2025-2030)." - Tom Hewson (Jan 2025)
93+ Points - Vinous Media:
"The NV PN-TX20 is a powerful, tightly wound wine. All the drive of Pinot comes through in this decidedly virile Champagne. As with all the wines in this new series from Bollinger, the NV PN-TX20 is built around a base wine, in this case 2020 Pinot Noir from Tauxières, with 50% reserve wines, half of them from Bollinger's extensive library of reserve wines aged in magnum. This is an especially vinous Champagne, one that needs at least a year or two in bottle to unwind. The year was characterized by a relatively short cycle of just 87 days from flowering to a harvest that began on August 25. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: January, 2025. (Drink between 2027-2037)." - Antonio Galloni (Jun 2025)
93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
Pouring a pale silver/yellow color, the NV Champagne Pinot Noir TX20 is representative of the fruitiness of the vintage and the purity of the citrus, with notes of white grapefruit, hazelnut, and fresh bread dough. It's a fresh expression that doesn't get the toastiness you might expect, but has the fruitiness and a frothy, bubbly mousse. It will most likely benefit from another year. Based on 2020 for half the cuvée, the other half is reserve wine. - Audrey Frick (Dec 2025)
92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Named after the village of Tauxières, from which it takes its abbreviation, the new NV Blanc de Noirs PN TX20 contains 40% fruit sourced from Tauxières, and the remaining composition draws largely from Aÿ-Champagne and Avenay-Val-d'Or. This cuvée is based on the 2020 vintage (48%), complemented by reserve wines from 2019 (stored in tank) as well as 2012 and 2008 (both aged in magnums). Disgorged in February 2025 with a dosage of eight grams per liter, it bursts from the glass with expressive aromas of ripe pear, tangerine peel, clove and brioche. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, broad and textural, with lively acidity and a generous core of fruit. The finish is expansive, though a subtle sweetness emerges, lending the impression of being one of the least dry expressions among the house’s Pinot Noir Champagnes. Vinified equally in stainless steel and oak barrels, approximately 80% of the fruit for this cuvée is sourced from Bollinger’s own vineyards. - Kristaps Karklins (Jul 20
