About the Winery:
Bodegas Mauro was established in 1980 by Mariano García (Vega Sicilia’s 40 year winemaker) in homage to his father. Enclaved halfway along the River Duero in the Castilian town of Tudela, the Bodegas Mauro philosophy from the very beginning has been based on producing age-worthy wines that are deeply rooted in the territory, organic and biodynamic. 

Vintage:
Autumn was mild and wet, with rain almost every day in November. In contrast, winter was dry and one of the warmest of the last decade. Spring arrived with a cold and wet front that delayed bud break until the end of April. The lushness of the vines demanded more trimming and green pruning. The arrival of cold, dry air masses caused thermal ups and downs in summer and cool temperatures that favoured slower ripening. The El Rosal and Traspinedo vineyards were harvested during the first half of September.

Tasting Notes:
Superb aromatic fruitiness, enveloping structure with fresh and integrated tannins. A majestic VS.

Ageing:
Bottled in January 2023 after aging for 26 months in French oak barrels.
