About the Winery:
Bodegas Mauro was established in 1980 by Mariano García (Vega Sicilia’s 40 year winemaker) in homage to his father. Enclaved halfway along the River Duero in the Castilian town of Tudela, the Bodegas Mauro philosophy from the very beginning has been based on producing age-worthy wines that are deeply rooted in the territory, organic and biodynamic.

Tasting Notes:
Deepness and aromatic purity in a wine of extreme finesse and freshness. Broad, delectable, with a powerful but flexible tannic structure.

Food Pairing:
Fajitas, Herbed Pork Loin, Stuffed Peppers

Ratings & Reviews:

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
The textbook red 2020 Mauro comes from a cooler year with freshness and balance. It's powerful and ripe with 14.5% alcohol and a medium to full-bodied palate that reveals a juicy and creamy wine with very good balance and drinkability. It was produced with Tinto Fino/Tempranillo and 15% between Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, and it fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in barrels and foudres of different ages for 15 months. This is a very drinkable vintage of Mauro with very good balance and stuffing and, therefore, aging potential in bottle... Drink: 2023-2030. (1/31/23)"

92 Points - Wine Spectator (2019):

"A suave red that marries power with restrained grace, meshing firm, sculpted tannins with a pure range of ripe black and red currant, orange-infused chocolate, wild sage and minerally iron and graphite. Long and fresh on the spiced finish. Tempranillo and Syrah. Best from 2024 through 2034. 250 cases imported." AN (10/15/22)
