About the Domaine:
In 1818, Nicolas François Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon founded the house of Billecart-Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, which now stands as the oldest continuously family-owned and operated house in Champagne. The estate is currently managed by the family’s seventh generation, brothers François and Antoine Roland-Billecart, while the cellars lie in the hands of Florent Nys.

After 33 years, François Domi has handed over the baton of Chief Winemaker to Florent, who has been working as an apprentice under the watchful eye of François since 2005, is now ready to take over the reins.

Notes from the Winemaker:
The Rosé that brought the world to their knees. Billecart-Salmon's Champagne Rosé helped land a spot on the maps in regards to the appreciation of the pink bubbles. Stylistically the wine is predominately chardonnay lightness and elegance with no skin contact during maceration. Pinot Noir is blended in as a red wine for the light, unique color and red fruit flavors, and it consists of 3 vintages with up to 40% reserve wines.

  • 40% Chardonnay from select favorites crus
  • 30% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne
  • 30% Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and the slopes of Epernay

On the palate, this rosé is full of tart strawberries, raspberries with a hint of lemon zest.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:

"The NV Champagne Brut Rose is an attractive pale salmon hue, with a fresh perfume of wild strawberry, ripe peach, white and red flowers, a hint of tropical fruit, and grapefruit. The palate is rounded, with fruit up front and through the mid-palate, and it has a silky and fresh lift. There is a wonderful ease and drinkability to this wine, which delivers balance and finesse. Drink 2022-2037." - Audrey Frick (November 2022)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Attractive salmon color with aromas of dried strawberries and lemons, as well as hints of flowers. Full-bodied with tight tension from the fine phenolics that run through the palate. Hints of white pepper, peaches and sliced green strawberries with some candied lemons, too. Always an excellent bottle. 40% chardonnay, 30% pinot noir and 30% pinot meunier. Drink now." (Jun 2022)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This mouthwatering rosé Champagne shows lacy texture and precise balance, with the well-honed acidity deftly knit to the subtle, chalky minerality and delicate range of nectarine, white cherry, slivered almond and pickled ginger notes. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now. - AN (Dec 2022)

92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The NV Rosé, based 2019, is bright, lifted and refreshing. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, white pepper and chalk are very nicely delineated. There's terrific depth and texture to fill out the soft, curvy contours. The 2019 base Rosé is fabulous. In fact, it is one of the best recent releases I can remember tasting. Dosage is 5.1 grams per liter." - Antonio Galloni (May 2023)

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"A dry style of brut, emphasizing great fruitiness, and with a touch of bottle age, this Champagne is ready to drink. Citrus, red fruits and tight minerality from the 40% Chardonnay in the blend, offer a wine under tension and worth aging another year in bottle. Drink now or from 2023."  – RV (Dec 2022)
