About the winery:

Considered one of Italy's most ingenious winemakers, Bibi Graetz has risen from artist to cult winemaker seemingly overnight. Since the release of his first wines in 2000 and without any formal training, Bibi Graetz has managed to stir-up the Tuscan wine scene and within a couple of years, he has become one of the hottest names in winemaking out of Tuscany. His flagship Super Tuscan wine, "Testamatta", regularly makes the annual Top 100 lists of various fine wine publications. His other Super Tuscans such as "Collore" and "Soffocone" are among the most sought after wines on the best Italian wine lists throughout Italy and the US.

Soffocone di Vincigliata is the only wine named by the vineyard of production: the idea is to underline the special link between this wine and the hill where Bibi Graetz started his project.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - James Suckling:
"Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a vanilla, walnut and dried fruit character on the finish. A little austere but delicious. Always an outstanding red. Give it a year or two to soften." (Nov 2012)

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"The cherry, plum and tobacco flavors are expressive in this harmonious red, lingering with firm tannins and a spicy finish. Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Colorino. Best from 2016 through 2028. 3,000 cases imported." - BS (Oct 2013)
