About this wine:

The famed Champagne House Bereche et Fils was founded in 1847 and like most Grower Champagne, it was virtually unheard of until recently. The innovative work of young Raphael and Vincent Bereche has made this one of the most talked about Champagne houses among France’s sommeliers, cavistes and connoisseurs. With lavish praise from Peter Liem and Antonio Galloni, the same is beginning to happen the United States.

Equal parts of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, drawn from a perpetual reserve of 600-liter barrels begun by Jean-Pierre in 1985. Every year two-thirds of the wine in each barrel is drawn off and replaced with that from the latest vintage. After 4 years on the lees, the result is a rivetingly complex Champagne that seamlessly marries richness, texture and depth and with startling freshness and lift.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Based on the 2015 vintage and complemented, as usual, by some 30% reserve wines from a solera of demi-muids dating back to 1986, this bottle of the NV Brut Reflet d'Antan saw tirage in 2017, followed by disgorgment in December 2019 with 0.6 grams per liter dosage. Mingling aromas of toasted nuts and candied peel with hints of honeycomb and fresh mint, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and incisive, with tangy acids and a long, sapid finish." - William Kelley (Mar 2021)

95 Points - Vinous Media:
"The NV Reflet d'Antan, base 2017, is outrageously beautiful. Creamy and expansive, the 2017 offers up a compelling mix of orchard fruit, orange peel, spice and tangerine oil. As always, Reflet d'Antan is a solera-style blend that includes 25% reserve wine back to 1982. That combination yields a Champagne endowed with tons of nuance and complexity. This is the first time Reflet d'Antan will be released only in magnums. Readers should be prepared for much higher pricing on this wine, which the Bereche brothers explain as necessary in order to make investments in quality across their operation." - Antonio Galloni (Nov 2023)

94 Points - James Suckling:
Very deep and rich, showing sweet-smelling nuttiness and yellow plums. Essence-like palate that’s deeply concentrated, smooth and richly textured. Super vinous with a mellow bead. A selection of reserve wine, just 4-5 demi-muids (500-600 litre oak barrels) each year. Drink or hold.
