About this Wine:
The famed Champagne House Bereche et Fils was founded in 1847 and like most Grower Champagne, it was virtually unheard of until recently. The innovative work of young Raphael and Vincent Bereche has made this one of the most talked about Champagne houses among France’s sommeliers, cavistes and connoisseurs. With lavish praise from Peter Liem and Antonio Galloni, the same is beginning to happen the United States.
The Bérêche rosé, Campania Remensis, uses the Roman name for the countryside around Reims. It also comes from a single terroir, the village of Ormes, just west of Reims in the Petite Montagne. It is two-thirds Pinot Noir—including a small percentage of still wine for color—with the balance Chardonnay. It is, like all the domaine’s wines, a Champagne of unusual originality and elegance thanks to its unique site and the approach of its makers." - Rare Wine Co
The “Campania Remensis” is a rosé cuvée sourced from a 0.71ha vineyard in Ormes in the west of Montagne de Reims. Made of 60% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay, 5% pinot meunier, and 5% Coteaux Champenois Rouge, the wine spent 36 months on the lees before it was disgorged. It is bright with red and strawberry fruit and streaks of flowers and tobacco. It is persistent with impeccable balance and structure with fine focus and grip. Sustainably grown, vegan.
Ratings & Reviews
90-92 Points Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Extra-Brut Rosé Campania Remensis is bright and crisp. Sandy soils yield an especially aromatic, airy Rosé. The 2021 is naturally on the lighter side, but then again, this is 2021. Cranberry, pink grapefruit, mint, white pepper, slate and chalk are some of the many notes that grace this chiseled, nervy Rosé. I tasted the 2021 from a trial disgorgement, hence my bracketed score. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter, lower than the 2.5 that is planned for the commercial release. (Drink between 2026-2031)." - Antonio Galloni (Apr 2025)
