Bereche et Fils Ay Grand Cru Extra Brut Millesime 2015
(Champagne, France) - [VM 94]
Regular price $229.97
About this wine:
The famed Champagne House Bereche et Fils was founded in 1847 and like most Grower Champagne, it was virtually unheard of until recently. The innovative work of young Raphael and Vincent Bereche has made this one of the most talked about Champagne houses among France’s sommeliers, cavistes and connoisseurs. With lavish praise from Peter Liem and Antonio Galloni, the same is beginning to happen the United States.
Here is what the brother Raphael and Vincent had to say of this wine:
"This wine reveals a luminous color with a golden reflection. The nose, full of nuance and complexity, stretches out over scents of stone and chalk, accompanied by scents of fresh red berries. Everything is harmonized around freshness, the elegant signature of this solar grand cru, but at altitude. The mouth is broad and powerful, almost thick, where spices dominate, cardamom and white pepper underline the structure. The finish is just an almond coated with intense length of chalk."
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2015 Etra Brut Ay Grand Cru captures all the richness of Ay and of this dry, sunny vintage. Racy and exuberant, the 2015 offers up an exciting mix of crushed red berry fruit, lemon confit, ginger, cinnamon and dried rose petals. The Ay is a blend of Pinot Noir from Froide-Terre and Chardonnay from Brise-Pot, co-fermented, with the Chardonnay lending notable freshness. That is especially evident on the lively finish. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: July, 2022." - Antonio Galloni (Nov 2023)
