About the whiskey:

For over fifty years, Silver Oak has created exquisite California cabernets aged exclusively in premium oak barrels, establishing themselves as a trailblazer in Napa, CA. Finding the perfect balance of fruit to barrel notes, this expression features a custom blend of 9 to 15 year-old bourbon, which was then finished in Silver Oak barrels for 17 months, creating a beautiful balance of ripe fruit, caramel, and roasted nuts.

Tasting Notes:

Layers of baked strawberry, plum, and roasted nuts are highlighted by cinnamon and cocoa. A full-bodied palate of caramel and fig leads to an exquisite, lightly tannic balance of oak, spice, and blackberry.

"This blend of 9 to 14 year old bourbons spent 17 months finishing in California-based Silver Oak cabernet casks, giving it a fruity and chocolaty nose. Chocolate-covered graham crackers and dark red fruits rise from the glass. On the sip, there’s cherry cordials, vanilla extract, raspberry jam, and butterscotch syrup. The flavors are dense and the fruits are punchy, but the whiskey manages its proof well. The finish is long, with chocolate cake, chocolate-covered strawberries, and sweetened coffee."

"The whiskey starts with raspberry, black cherry, toffee, roasted nuts, and charred oak on the nose. The dark fruit notes carry over into the palate, where they’re joined by strawberry seasoned oak, and toffee. It has a nutty undertone and turns slightly tannic as it rounds into the finish. There, tobacco, dark berries, and burnt brown sugar cap off the sip, which ends on a lingering dry note. A robust finished blend of bourbon thanks to its blend that spans ages, distilleries, and mash grains."
