About the Whiskey:
Maintaining its 107 proof and minimum seven-year age statement, Baker’s High-Rye Bourbon has twice as much rye as regular Baker’s, with bold notes of charred oak, vanilla, and caramel on the nose, followed by charred oak, “brown sweets,” and rye spice on the palate.

One thing that makes Baker’s unique is there’s not one particular location where it ages. With four campuses, a lot of differences can occur inside each barrel. For example, airflow, location of the rickhouse and dump date all play a part. Each barrel is tested. Only those that meet the highest quality standards are bottled.

Proof: 107

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The aroma opens with rich charred oak balanced by vanilla, caramel, and dried fruits, offering a delightful complexity.
  • Palate: On the palate, charred oak and brown sweets dominate, complemented by a subtle yet distinctive rye spice.
  • Finish: A full-bodied bourbon with a touch of baking spice rounds off the finish, ensuring a satisfying sipping experience.

Awards/Reviews

"Aggressively spice-forward on the nose, the herbal qualities of the whiskey are confounded only by the slightly secondary appearance of dusty oak, bordering on a lumberyard quality. You can taste the classic Baker’s fruit here — a heavily spiced cherry cola note, segueing slowly into sarsaparilla, adjacent to a root beer character. The punch of the rye is, without being hyperbolic, intense. If not for a healthy slug of creamy peanut and almond notes underneath, I would have sworn this was a rye whiskey. That’s probably the intent, of course, and if you like your bourbon sweet up top and heavy with herbal notes underneath, this is going to be your jam. Those greenery elements don’t quit — with rosemary and thyme heavy in the mix, alongside some peppery cilantro. Lingering elements of sesame oil give an oily sweetness to the finish."

"The palate does taste in the vein of Old Grand-Dad with a good amount of caramel and cinnamon upfront. This is where the bourbon’s age begins to shine, with a layer of rich dark fruits peppered in. The finish pops with the expected amount of rye spice with barrel char offering some needed texture." - Breaking Bourbon
