About the Winery:
Located in Italy’s Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Tenuta Borgo Conventi was established in 1975 and was named in homage to the first monastery (“convento”) founded in the province of Farra d’Isonzo on land donated by a noble family in the 17th century. Borgo Conventi’s white wines hail from the winery’s oldest vineyards in the hills of Collio, a DOC region known for producing exceptional and mineral-driven white wines due to its signature ponca soil series. This unique soil is composed of marl and sandstone and contains marine fossils.

About this Wine:
This unique soil is composed of marl and sandstone and contains marine fossils. The structure and elegance of the Collio white wines is also due to its ideal climate and location on the border of Slovenia and between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea, which features significant differences in daytime and nighttime temperatures, resulting in complexity.

Tasting Notes:
A surprising freshness mingles with the intense aromas that are typical of the Collio area. The nose opens with notes of lemon zest, lime wood, yellow roses and jasmine, which then elegantly give way to pleasant, engaging scents of freshly baked bread, ripe apples and butter biscuits. Its exceptional structure is immediately revealed in the mouth. The acidity of the Chardonnay gives a hint of fragrance to the flavor, the Friulano is beautiful and smooth, while the Malvasia delivers a distinctive, full and pleasant finish. Together they create a sophisticated and original flavor and aroma, reflecting the superior quality of the wines of the Collio.

Pairing Notes
A showcase white wine to pair with main courses of veal, pork, and poultry. Also stunning with fresh fish and richer seafood, such as scallops and lobster.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Luna di Ponca is a deep golden hue with a rich bouquet of crushed almonds, hazelnut custard and crushed pears. It's more lifted and spry on the palate, with a notable mineral core and a wash of ripe pit fruits that settle on the senses. It finishes with nuances of chamomile and spice. This is a blend of 70% Friulano, 20% Chardonnay and 10% Malvasia. (Drink between 2025-2030)" - Eric Guido (Oct 2025)
