About the Wine:
The Arietta Quartet is the perennial blend of four varieties that quintessentially captures the spirit of the vintage. The 2022 vintage Quartet is dominated by the richness of Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), which in this season provided a dark, silky, textured base on which to build.

The label features a drawing of the string quartet's instruments by an eight-year-old Libby Hatton, a future proprietor of Arietta, over a manuscript of the famous Cavatina movement from Beethoven’s String Quartet Opus 130.

Winemaker Notes:
The Arietta Quartet is the perennial blend of four varieties that quintessentially captures the spirit of the vintage.  The 2023 Quartet returns to the Bordeaux blend format we employed prior to the 2021 vintage: similar amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a modest percentage of Cabernet Franc and a wee dram of Petit Verdot.   With the percentage of new oak held at 20%, the Quartet 2023 will drink well upon release, while the rich skin tannins common to the 2023 reds should support aging for ten years.   Arietta Associate Winemaker Patrick Nyeholt finds notes of blueberry, blackberry, nutmeg, shortbread, pie crust, tobacco, and savory and earthy undertones in the Arietta 2023 Red Wine.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Bold and generous aromas of blackberries, coffee beans, licorice and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied with firmly framed tannins and balanced acidity, giving earthy dark-fruit notes that finish with a savory touch. Great value. Drink or hold." (Jul 2025)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Based on 48% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot and aged in 20% new French oak, the 2023 Quartet offers ripe black cherries, tobacco, black olive, and chocolate-driven aromatics. It's medium to full-bodied and has a round, lush, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and beautiful purity. I love its tannins, and it's going to evolve for 10-15 years with ease. There are 865 cases produced. Drink 2025-2040." (Dec 2025)

93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah from Carneros, Marietta's 2023 Quartet Red Wine remains an excellent value in Napa's overall pricing scheme. Deep and dark, with cassis and blackberries leading the way, this is full-bodied and concentrated, capped off by a long, softly tannic finish." - Joe Czerwinski (Oct 2025)

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A dark and brooding red that retains a sense of focus and style, offering deep flavors of blackberry, bittersweet chocolate and tobacco that end with broad-shouldered tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2034. 860 cases made." - Tim Fish (Nov 2025)

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2023 Red Blend Quartet is a heady, boisterous entry-level offering from Arietta. A blast of dark red cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and chocolate makes a strong opening statement. As is so often the case, the Quartet overdelivers big time. There's a lot of wine here." - Antonio Galloni (Nov 2025)
