About the Winery:
Bibiana cherishes the land from which her wines emerge; so much so, she wanted a way to share it with her native country of Colombia. During an annual visit home, a casual conversation among friends sparked an idea: she could bring her wine to Colombia, blending both versions of her life with the same care she uses to blend her wines. In 2012, she created her first label, Cattleya, as an homage to her home country, naming it after the national flower of Colombia. Her newest venture, Alma de Cattleya, represents the soul of the land that gives life to her wines as well as her own soul put into each drop of wine that makes it to the bottle.

Bibiana’s philosophy on crafting extraordinary wines is apparent in Alma de Cattleya. Her commitment to the highest quality is evident in every sip, and she knows that a fantastic wine can be had at an accessible price. The goal of Alma wines is to represent the purity of the varietals of their specific viticultural area. From rich reds to lush pinks and crisp whites, Alma wines are bright and cheerful. They are tied to each season and reflect the bountiful harvest found in farmer’s markets in her surroundings of Sonoma County and all-around California.

About the Wine:
Our Pinot Noir grapes are grown near the Pacific Ocean along the Sonoma Coast. Fruit is harvested at night and immediately sorted at the winery. Following a short cold soak, the juice is fermented in stainless steel, open-top tanks. When fermentation is complete, the wine is drained from the tank and the skins are gently pressed. The resulting wine is aged in both neutral barrels and new barrels for 11 months.

Tasting Notes:
Harnessed within its medium ruby core, this Pinot Noir packs pure aromas of berry pie, pomegranate, and spicy sandalwood. Rich and textured on the palate, the senses are dazzled with fruit driven flavors of macerated blackberry and mulberry that pair seamlessly with more savory notes of dried herbs and hints of fresh earth. The youthful acidity and fine-grained tannin offer an exciting and approachable finish to this luscious wine.

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - Vinous:
The 2022 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is much darker in character than the Russian River bottling. It opens with blackberry, black cherry and a broad swath of sweet and savory spices. Sensual and refined, the structure here is open and ready to go. Enjoy this any time over the next several years. Vineyard sources are Sunchase and Nightwing.

90 Points - James Suckling:
"Ripe red cherries, kirsch and rose petals with squeezed orange zest and lifted lavender aromas. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity and fine tannins. Fragrant. Drink now." (Nov 2023)
