About the Winery:

Since 1142 wine production has been an integral part of life at Neustift Abbey, which is located right in the middle of the northernmost wine growing area south of the Alps. Tradition and location are of course both reflected in the Neustift wines. As well as a constant striving for the highest quality. Neustift started off right from the beginning in 1142 with vineyards where grapes could be grown for the monastery’s own winery. Wine culture at Neustift is thus almost 900 years old, in other words the monastery has one of the oldest active wineries in the world.
For centuries wine was only produced for the Neustift community’s own use. Gradually, however, the winery assumed a leading role, and today it is one of the most famous in the wine country of South Tyrol.  The values on which we base our work have always been the same. One is the striving for quality – from that of production to that of the product. Another, however, there is respect for the terroir with the characteristic features that we want to see reflected in our wines.
This respect goes hand in hand with respect for nature. It is only with sustainable economic management that we’ll be able to leave nature as undamaged as possible for those who come after us.

Tasting Notes

A particular specialty of the Valle Isarco. Greenish to bright yellow in color. Peaches, apricots, and tones of tangerines on the nose. Very lively, juicy, and sleek on the palate, with a mineral-rich finish.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Lemon and lime zest mixed with fresh green herbs, lemongrass and wildflowers leap out of the glass of this zippy and beautiful Kerner. Energetic on the palate, the wine doubles down on the lemon and lime note, with more savory herbal notes showing up on the finish." - Jeff Porter (Sep 2023)

93 Points - Kerin O'Keefe
"Grapefruit and ripe yellow stone fruit aromas come to the forefront along with elderflower on the fantastic 2022 Kerner from Abbazia di Novacella. The aromas follow over to the tangy, delicious palate along with gooseberry, lemon drop, nutmeg and rosemary. It's polished enveloping."

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Fresh lemons, green apples, white grapefruit and lime blossom on the nose. Hints of herbs. So fresh, with a medium body, bright acidity and super clean, crisp finish. Drink now." (Jun 2023)

90 Points, #70 Top 100 Of 2023 - Wine Spectator:
"This light-on-its-feet white is dry, tangy and orangey, with blood orange granita, orange blossoms and juicy tangerine acidity accented by hints of fresh tarragon and salty mineral. Drink now. 13,750 cases made, 3,300 cases imported." - Alison Napjus (Nov 2023)
