(3/3) Masterclass: Meet Haut Bailly CEO Pessac-Leognan Perfection Vertical Tasting
Regular price $148.00
What
Château Haut-Bailly is a Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, ranked among the Crus Classés for red wine in the Classification of Graves wine of 1953 and 1959. But Chateau Haut Bailly has a much longer long history in the Bordeaux region. While vines were being cultivated to produce wine at what we know of as Chateau Haut Bailly today as far back as 1461, the estate’s first attempt at cultivating a modern Bordeaux vineyard truly starts in 1530 and by the late 1600s, the property was already quite well known for the quality of its wines. In fact, the wines of Haut Bailly were so popular, they were one of the first Bordeaux chateaus to begin selling specific vintages.
After a series of owners, Daniel Sanders, a Belgian Bordeaux wine merchant, bought Haut Bailly in 1955. At the time of the sale, the estate was in desperate need of repair. He and his son Jean proceeded with a major renovation and by 1988 the vineyard was again fully planted. Grand-daughter Veronique Sanders followed in the family tradition and took over as director after Jean Sanders. It is under the direction of Veronique Sanders that Haut Bailly began producing the best wines in the history of the estate.
We will be joined for this exclusive Masterclass by none other than Veronique Sanders herself! Together we will explore many vintages of this exceptional wine to go in depth to the differences that a vintage and a slight change in blend can bring to the wine - not to mention some age, as the youngest wine we'll explore is already 5 years old, and our oldest goes back almost 20 years.
This event Tuesday, March 3rd, and because we are opening some of the rarest bottles in our cellar, we are strictly limiting capacity to two sit-down sessions of 10 guests each.
