About the Winery:
The Tabor story goes back over a hundred years to when philanthropist Baron Rothschild invested in the future of Israel as the Jewish nation. He supported Jews settling in the Holy Land and financed many of their efforts, including the Carmel Winery in Zikhron Yaakov. In 1901 Rothschild supported the establishment of a small town at the foot of Mount Tabor which has always had a connection to grape cultivation. But it never really got off the ground in a big way until 2000, when the Tabor Winery was established by four families in Kfar Tabor. They each had their own vineyards in the village but had previously sold all their grapes to other wineries.
In 2005, CBC Israel (the Coca Cola Company of Israel, distributor and producer of beverages of all kinds including wines, beers, and alcohol) decided to invest in a winery. Recognizing Tabor's potential, CBC purchased the winery. One would think that this acquisition would industrialize the winery and create mass-produced, uninspiring wine. The exact opposite has happened for Tabor; in fact, Tabor has had the luxury of purchasing the highest standard and state-of-the-art equipment without compromising on their family business values.
Since then, the winery has grown dramatically and is now one of Israel's most important wineries. Today, Tabor winery produces a full spectrum of wines in five different series.
About this Wine:
Har, which means 'mountain,' is named for Mount Tabor, the location of the winery. It is the name for Tabor's entry-level series of red, white and sparkling wines which are fruit forward for everyday pleasure with clear varietal expressions.
Kosher wine is notoriously expensive. Producing it requires strict standards and certification. Tabor Winery offers world-class wine but it is kosher and affordable, true QPR wine, or Quality-to-Price-Ratio. This means the wine is of high quality, but the price is low.
100% Chardonnay, harvested from three vineyards planted in rich limestone soils in the Lower Galilee. The wine went through cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, without the influence of barrel or malolactic fermentation in order to allow the natural grape characteristics and freshness to shine through. Light and fruity, this classic unoaked Chardonnay is full of flavors and aromas, melon, peach, pear with hints of tropical fruit. The wine has a pale straw color and moderate acidity leading to a pleasant enduring finish.
