About this Winery
O’Shaughnessy Estate Winery sits at 1,800 feet on the heralded Howell Mountain appellation in the beautiful Napa Valley. Founded in 1996, the estate encompasses one hundred and twenty acres. Winemaker Sean Capiaux has overseen the planting of the vineyard and selected numerous clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and all seven of the historic Bordeaux varietals for this unique property.
About the Wine:
This wine is getting quite a bit of talk around the valley and far beyond as it is the only Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon made from estate vineyards on Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain and Oakville. Yes, these are the same vineyards we use for our Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder bottlings. The Oakville vineyard resides between our esteemed neighbors on the Oakville Cross Road and has been given a lot of time and attention by Sean and the team over the last several years to truly maximize this site.
This 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark blue/black color and an opaque center. This is a stellar wine with black cherry and blue fruits. The flavors are bright and focused with gorgeous layers of black cherry, plum butter, and mixed berry compote. This expansive Cabernet Sauvignon finishes with flavors of smoked cherry wood and smooth but age worthy tannins.
Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% St. Macaire, 1% Petit Verdot

"The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is terrific, and while I don’t know the price, I suspect it’s a great value. Deep purple-hued, with terrific mulled currant and blackberry fruits, it has lots of ripe herbal, chocolaty spice notes, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish.
