About the Winery:
Since 1868, six generations of the Mauritson family have grown grapes in the Dry Creek Valley. These 140 years of farming have crafted their winemaking philosophy that great wine is made in the vineyard. Each harvest, they reserve the best fruit from their 310 acres throughout the Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Rockpile appellations. This allows them to showcase the individuality of their incredible vineyard holdings by creating single-vineyard wines as well as wines distinctive of the appellations themselves.
About this Wine:
Made up from two different blocks of Sauvignon Blanc at Hardie Ranch. Planted more than two decades ago, the vineyard is located in the northern part of the valley, along the banks of Dry Creek, where the soils are gravelly and deep, allowing for great water drainage and root penetration. The vines grow upon sand and rock to give this Sauvignon Blanc its signature Sancerre style: bright citrus fruits with wet stone and hints of mineral. Each lot was hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed and fermented separately to achieve maximum depth and complexity. Some blocks ferment and age in 75hL oak foudre and others in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, enticing perfumed aromas include candied lime, white hyacinth blossom and wet stone, with a beautiful underlying pulse of gala melon flesh and white pineapple. On the palate, cleansing Bergamot orange zest gives the wine focus, while a kiss of summer ripened Mirabelle plum carries the round and refreshing lift on the finish.

Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc has inviting aromas of peach, tarragon, white pepper and flint. The medium-bodied palate is pure and fragrant with compelling flinty streaks and a soft, rounded texture. It’s enlivened by vibrant acidity and has a long, shimmery finish." - Erin Brooks (Jul 2025)
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Aromas of pithy grapefruit, white flowers and cut grass dominate the nose of this zesty and zippy Savvy B. The palate brings a more tropical energy, with flavors of tropical pineapple, guava and salty lime along the finish." - Tom Capo (Nov 2025)
