About the Winery: 
Jules Taylor has been making NZ wines for over two dozen years: in 2001, Jules Taylor Wines emerged as a little moonlighting project with a mere 200 cases. After leaving her corporate winemaking job five years, two children and many, many late nights later, Jules and her husband George Elworthy took the nail-biting decision to put everything on the line, jack in their day jobs, and give their dream a shot. Jules Taylor Wines have been earning high praise ever since.

Creating honest, tasty, fruit-packed Marlborough wines is what Jules does best. Today, Jules makes her harvesting decisions in the vineyard, purely by taste rather than by laboratory analyses. Jules will only release a wine if she is entirely satisfied it has met her standards. She only makes one batch of each wine every harvest. So, enjoy it while you can. Once it’s gone, it’s well and truly gone.

About this Wine:
The name’s a bit of a mouthful so Jules just calls it Grüner. She also describes this cool climate Austrian variety as “Imagine the illegitimate lovechild of Riesling and Pinot Gris – what’s not to love?”. Layered and creamy with softened acidity and nutty nuances, this wine has delicous lemon, white peach and green apple flavours and dry palate. Take Jules’ advice and give Grüner a go.

"A lovely example of an Austrian variety that is, unfortunately, rarely seen in New Zealand. Drink it only slightly chilled to maximize the citrus, apple and stone fruit characteristics, and to find the lemongrass and gingery spice beneath.
