About this winery:
Made by the brother-sister team of Christophe and Isabelle Sabon, Domaine de la Janasse was founded in 1976 by Aimé Sabon, the father of Christophe and Isabelle, after taking over the family vineyards. The property consists of 40 hectares, just about 100 acres, spread over as many as 70 different parcels throughout the south of France. (Previously grapes had been sold to the local cooperative.)

Isabel and Christophe Sabon source the fruit for their Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc from a vineyard just outside the borders of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and its famed lieu-dit of Le Crau. Totaling about 5 hectares, this site is sandy and planted with Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Viogner and Roussanne. It is fermented and aged entirely in French oak vats.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"A wine that smells and tastes like a Châteauneuf Du Pape, the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Blanc offers a beautiful bouquet of white peach, honeysuckle, white flowers, and brioche. Rich and medium-bodied, it displays good acidity and a rounded, textured, straight-up delicious style that's ideal for drinking over the coming year or three." - Jeb Dunnuck (8/16/2019)

89 Points - Wine Advocate:
"A blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 20% each Bourboulenc and Clairette and 10% each Roussanne and Viognier, Janasse's 2018 Cotes du Rhone Blanc is a plump, citrusy offering, with aromas and flavors of lime and orange. It's medium to full-bodied, round in the mouth and silky in texture. It should drink well for a year or two." - Joe Czerwinski (Oct 2020)
