About the region:
The small village of Saint-Bris produces a wine highly unusual for Burgundy, as it is the only white Burgundy AOC made from Sauvignon Blanc. Saint-Bris is produced in an area of 133 hectares and is characterized by a very aromatic bouquet dominated by notes of exotic fruits and blackcurrant leaves.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Fresh, intense bouquet with asserted blackcurrant bud and boxwood notes. Fresh and round on the palate, with spontaneous expression. A wine with exquisite lightness.
This wine pairs well with charcuterie, grilled fish, seafood and oysters.
Ratings & Reviews
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (2019):
"Touching 13%. Pretty light colour, lightly sauvignon, far from full gooseberry, but maybe a touch of blackcurrant leaf. Sunshine beneath, but not fat. Medium bodied with very good length. The usual classy winemaking here. Very nice aftertaste."
Natalie Maclean (2019):
Still my all-time favourite Sauvignon Blanc! William Fèvre, Saint-Bris 2019 is a Burgundy beauty -- and the only appellation in Burgundy permitted to bottle Sauvignon Blanc. Love the nose on this vivacious SB with gooseberry, Meyer lemon citrus zest and briny mineral aromas and flavours with pin-point balanced acidity. Chill and enjoy on its own, with seafood or creamy cheeses.
Vinous Media (2018):
"The 2018 Saint-Bris is an attractive, crisp dry white to drink now and over the next few years. Bright floral notes add perfume to a core of lime and white orchard fruit. Aging in steel keeps the flavors bright." - Antonio Galloni (Jan 2020)
