Campari is an alcoholic spirit obtained from the infusion of bitter herbs, aromatic plants and fruit in alcohol and water. Many have tried to guess the number of ingredients: some say there are 20 or 60, but others list the ingredients at 80. To this day, alcohol and water are the only known ingredients of its special and secret recipe. Its vibrant red colour, intense aroma and distinctive bitter taste make it extremely versatile, and the perfect base for some of the most famous cocktails around the world.

Campari is a contemporary and charismatic classic that has remained unchanged throughout the years to the original formula. The creation of Campari was the result of the talent of Gaspare Campari, master drink maker and founder of the company. His experiments in concocting new beverages in Novara, in 1860, resulted in a recipe that still today remains a secret known only to the very few people in charge of the production process.

About This Wine:

Carpano's Antica Formula, from the original recipe developed by Antonio Benedetto Carpano in 1786, is a sweet vermouth of the highest quality. This distinctive and powerful aromatized wine should be considered a standard component in any respectable bar. It can be served chilled as an aperitivo, a digestivo or a welcome addition to your favorite cocktail.

Color: light brown with an amber hue.

Nose: bouquet of vanilla with spicy, citrusy and dried fruit notes of almond, raisins and cloves.

Palate: well-rounded, rich vanilla taste that picks up the aromas from the nose. Combines well with the bitter orange, dates, cocoa beans and saffron flavors.

Alcohol content: 16.5%

INGREDIENTS
White wine from selected Italian grape varieties from the Romagna, Puglia and Sicily regions, processed within 24 hours of receiving to prevent oxidation. These wines have a medium alcoholic strength that, in combination with the special production processes, brings out the flavors of the spices, herbs and roots that make up the secret recipe.

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS: CREATION OF ANTICA FORMULA
The numerous aromatic plants that go into the recipe of Antica Formula are extracted by hot infusion or cold extraction methods handed down through the centuries, depending on the raw material. These methods, along with the recipe itself, constitute the secret of this product. The process is extremely precise and lengthy (some of the botanical ingredients require months of processing). Once the various plants and herbs have been put together, they undergo a refining stage which can last for several months. This is so that they can blend together properly and release all their fragrance and aromatic intensity. Finally, after the product has gone through the various quality control stages, it is ready for bottling. The old and original Carpano recipe combines the traditions of the historic Turin company with the centuries-old skill of Branca in the selection, composition and processing of the raw materials: the high level of technological innovation applied in the production process respects traditional methods of production, infusion and extraction. Still today, in keeping with Carpano tradition, there are only three people who share the secret behind the production and recipe of this product, one of these being the President of Fratelli Branca Distillerie himself, Niccola Branca.
